Voltage and Current Transformers require cores of the lowest loss and magnetising current.

Three types of Unicore may be used to achieve this.
  • The annealed uncut UNICORE is a perfect magnetic loop and can be substituted for either an uncut C-core or Toroidal core.
  • The annealed Distributed Gap UNICORE exhibits almost identical performance characteristics to the uncut UNICORE.
  • The annealed DUO1 Unicore exhibits almost identical performance characteristics to the uncut UNICORE.

The Distributed Gap and DUO1 UNICOREs are far easier to manufacture and assemble than an Uncut core.

Depending on the winding specification of the VT/CT, simpler winding techniques may be used with the Distributed Gap and DUO1 UNICOREs..
