Part Numbers PDF Print E-mail

The Unicore Part Number is split into two sections, separated by a hyphen. The first half describes the configuration and type of Unicore whilst the second half details the dimensions, and any additional requirements.

We use the letter "R" to denote a 'rectangular' single phase core and "E" to denote a three phase Evans style core.

DUO and Distributed Gap cores also require an indication of the number of lams per overlap in the part number.

For DUO Cores the first half of the part number is:

URDUO3 for a single phase core with three laminations per overlap UEDUO1 for a low loss, three phase core with only one lamination per overlap

The remainder of the part number details the dimensions in the order: WL ... WW ... SW ... BUP

We use the nomenclature : "Hib" for GOSS, "An" for Annealed and "Un" for Un-annealed

Example: The core UEDUO3-1505010050HibAn is a preferred size DUO E core with three lams per overlap, a Window Length of 150mm, Window Width 50mm, Strip Width 100mm, Build Up of 50mm, it will be made from GOSS and be annealed.

Example: A URDUO1-300100152100HibAn is a rectangular single phase DUO core with one lamination per overlap, it has an inside dimension of 300x100mm, a Strip Width of 6" (152mm) and a 4" (100mm) Build Up. This core would be made from a silicon steel such as 27RGH100D and be annealed before despatch.

For all other types of Unicores the following tables can be used to construct the part number.

Core Type Corner Angle Core Face Description
U (Unicore) R (Rectangular) A (45 deg) SB (Step Butt)
E (E core) S (90 deg) DGx (Distributed Gap, x = no. of lams per overlap)

30 (30 deg) DDGx (Diverging Distributed Gap, x= no. of lams per overlap)
EOL (Single Phase End Overlapping Distributed Gap)
ELAP (Three phase End Overlapping Distributed Gap)

  U (Uncut rectangular core)
      Gxx (Gapped, xx=gap in mm)
      B (Straight Butt face, stepless)

The second half of the part number details the dimensions of the Unicore, and any additional requirements.

It's the same system of nomenclature currently used for our C Cores.

- Dimensions Material Post process
WL WW SW BU Hib - GOSS An - Anneal
          M - Mumetal Un - Unanneal
            P - Polypropylene coating
            X - Special process

There are many permutations and combinations in a Unicore part number, some are impossible to produce others are impractical for the application. These tables are meant as a guide only, new customers require some explanation and guidance in selecting their Unicores.
