Permag Ltd. Is delighted to announce the purchase of a Unicore UCM 3000 machine.

8 November 2012

In a land renowned for the quality of its malt whisky, one Scottish core maker has chosen to add its own slice of engineering excellence to its range of products with the purchase of AEM Unicore technology.

Established in 1982, Permag Ltd, a Lanarkshire based core maker, formerly focused on the production of strip wound toroidal cores to a variety of UK and European businesses. Lately, as a number of its clients have chosen to relocate manufacture overseas,  Permag has undertaken a programme of diversification in order to broaden its existing product range . This expansion has culminated in the recent acquisition of the Unicore UCM3000 machine.

“Permag’s business is reliant on our ability to produce customer specified parts with a very quick turnaround,” said Roderick Ryan, production director. “We have recently seen an increase in demand for rectangular cores for current transformers. The new UCM3000 machine will allow us to make a range of cores including uncut rectangles without any tooling costs.”

Permag is also looking forward to making an impact in markets where it has not previously been active. Tim Ryan, technical director said, “the machine’s ability to make replacement products for large voltage transformers gives us new opportunities as Permag has never before been a supplier of rectangular laminations.”

Permag would like to thank Jan Loksa, AEM’s European agent, who spent a week in Scotland setting up the machine and training staff, for his ongoing advice and enthusiasm.

AEM would like to wish Permag every success in the future.
